I have been painting and drawing since the age of 14. I began to exhibit my work at the age of 17, in many galleries in Riga. I do not have any formal education in arts, but I have been learning constantly by observing and analysing the work of others. In Denmark, I have had two exhibitions: FIH kunstforening (2005) and Høje Taastrup Medborgerhus (2001). Some of my works can be viewed at www.darina-artspace.dk. Originally, painting has been just a spare time activity; today I see it as an important part of my life and take it more seriously. During the last 3 years I have been mostly painting on demand, which has given me an experience of direct interaction with my clients which had some influence on my work.
In 2000 I came to Denmark, where I have been lucky to meet my husband. He is my inspiration and much much more. While being in Denmark, I have been studying economy and finance which became my profession.
I joined the art group and I am hoping that we can draw inspiration from each other and combine our creative energy to make some interesting projects. This is the first art group I have ever joined so I am really excited to see what comes out of it. I have several ideas for group projects and I hope I can inspire some people to work together.
To make ART is one of the human rights which is worth fighting for.
