Nelli Lassen

Year and place of birth:
1976, Arzamas-16, Russia
Artistic background:

I have worked with art since I was 11 years old, and started my actual art studies at the age of 15 at the art school in Mstjora. The school is famous for its lacquer miniature paintings. After that I developed an interest for portrait and landscape paintings while studying at the university in Vladimir. I have experimented with different medias but my favourites are oil, acrylic, coal and watercolour. I have participated in a number of exhibitions both in Russia and Denmark.

So how did you end up in Denmark?

I have been in Denmark since 2002, and though all changes in life are somehow reflected in a person’s work, I myself believe that my work after leaving Russia is an unbroken continuation of my earlier, Russian work – that is, I do not think that the transfer from one environment to another has affected my work greatly.

Joining the art group:

Joining the NyDanskerKunst group presented itself as an opportunity to partake in activities with likeminded artist and thereby receiving the input and inspiration that is of central importance to the work of an artist.

Artistic motto:

Art to me is first and foremost a craft. That is my main focus and has always been on the execution, and I believe that art need not have much content as long as it is skilfully executed.
